The Recreation Program is a developmental soccer program for all children regardless of skill or ability. The program consists of five age groups in the fall, U6, U8, U10, U12, and U14. All players who register in the fall are registered for both the fall and spring season, players may sign up to play in the spring as well but they will only be registered for the spring season.
The U6 division consists of a boys and girls division. The U6 division is run by Everson Soccer Academy on Saturday mornings. These are small sided games and training clinics as recommended by US Youth Soccer. The clinics goal is to teach young players the fundamentals of soccer and to have fun!!!
The U8 division consists of a boy and girls division, they practice once a week and play one game on Saturday mornings against other Hamden U8 teams. Everson Soccer Academy Clinicians are available during the practice night. The U8 teams are coached by Parent/Volunteers most of whom have a few years experience coaching soccer.
The U10 Division consists of a boys and girls division, these teams practice once a week and have one game per week on Saturday mornings against other Hamden U10 teams. The U10 teams are coached by Parent/Volunteers most of whom have a few years experience coaching soccer.
The U12 and U14 Travel Rec Divisions consist of a girls and boys division, usually only one or two teams per division, this is due to the number of players assigned to each team. These divisions are coached by seasoned Parent/Volunteers who have been involved in Hamden Soccer for many years. These divisions play in the South Central Division of Connecticut Junior Soccer, therefore they travel for games, games can be played at Home, or as close as North Haven and as far away as Madison or Seymour. There are also opportunities to play in tournaments which would be paid by the team. Divisions with more than one team may play games against other Hamden teams; otherwise the games will be against other towns.
Playing recreational soccer is fun and exciting, many children have played for years, others have just started either way they enjoy the sport, the exercise, and the fun. Whether you have been playing soccer for six years or six weeks come on out and play we would love to have you.
